Oblong G-speak gestural interface
This week we looked at various interfaces. I found the Oblong g-speak gestural interface very interesting and reminded me of the movie “Minority Report”. The interface works via a user wearing gloves thats motions and gestures affects what happens on the screen. The sensory technology can be compared to the nintendo wii but on a larger scale.
Microsoft Surface
We watched a funny parody video that states the microsoft surface is pretty much over priced and pointless. There are some cool features but nothing that is a priority to users, its more like an expensive toy rather than a useful tool.
Common key bindings
The class shared different shortkeys we regularly use. The presentation was edited to include these. I discovered a few new ones I will probably use such as ctrl-y will redo an action.
Key presses
We analysed a program that uses javascript to detect key presses and inform what they do.
Ubiquity
Lastly, we looked at firefox browser add on that is configurable by the client and is command driven with natural language recognition. It makes life easier allowing users to translate text, copy directly into emails and many other cool functions including pulling up maps quickly.
